Patricia King with Rich and Pam Reid

Dear Presbytery of Mississippi Disaster Recovery,

Thank you for the opportunity to live in my home again. These words cannot possibly capture the intense
thankfulness I feel for your organization. Special heartfelt thanks to Linda and Lewis for coordinating all of this!
Ya’ll have had such a humongous impact on my life and I feel the need to at least try and put in writing the immense gratitude I feel.

Thank you for the refrigerator, range tops and microwave…these are the most beautiful “things” I’ve ever had the honor of putting in my home. They were the last missing requisite to my being able to actually live in the house. Now that they are here I’m able to live here again instead of commuting from my surviving grandmother's home way up in Lucedale. Thank you also for the front door and walls! Goodness, it seems woefully inadequate to address so many thanks in one letter. The people ya’ll have blessed me with meeting are truly extraordinary and it doesn’t seem to matter whether they are from Canada, Delaware, Ohio or Georgia---every individual person I’ve met associated with your group has touched my mind, heart and soul.

My mom told me I was baptized Presbyterian as a baby and while I don’t recall ever having attended Presbyterian services –one thing is for sure- I want to! Ya’ll are the most Christ- like people I’ve ever encountered. I’ve been Pentecostal since about a decade ago (when I was in my mid twenties) and born again. However, now that I’ve met so many of ya’ll and been blessed to have so many of God’s blessings shared by ya’ll-I’m totally hooked. When I tell my friends, family and curious neighbors about all the Presbyterian Church has done for me, everyone is shocked that I’m not a long-time member of your church.

The fact that ya’ll help people in
need and not just members of your church speaks volumes about the kind of  people you are and the kind of people I want to associate with. Ya’ll not only have a key to my home, you have a key to my heart. If there is ever a time when one of all of you  needs a place to stay, my door is always open. I thank God for placing me in your path.

I’m so overcome with gratitude and these  words do not seem to accurately capture how intensely thankful I am. Please know my entire life has been profoundly impacted by your ability to show God’s love. I pray that everyone ya’ll connect with realize how much God loves them.
Thank you for making my house a home. Thank you for being who you are.  Thank you for inspiring me and for changing my life.

                                                                     Love,

                                                                          Patricia King
